Dupe Purge Privacy Policy
Effective October 4, 2026
Dupe Purge helps you find and clear duplicate and similar photos on your iPhone. It is built to work entirely on your device. This policy explains what that means for your data.
The short version
- Your photos never leave your iPhone.
- We do not collect, store or share any personal data. We have no servers.
- There is no account, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking.
Your photos
Dupe Purge asks for access to your photo library so it can compare your photos and videos and find duplicates. All of this analysis happens on your iPhone using Apple’s built-in frameworks. Your photos, and anything learned from them, are never uploaded or sent to us or anyone else.
If some of your photos are stored only in iCloud Photos, iOS may download them from your iCloud account so the app can look at them. That happens between your device and Apple, under Apple’s privacy policy. Nothing is sent to us.
Dupe Purge only changes your library when you ask it to:
- Deleting moves items to Recently Deleted, where you can recover them for 30 days. iOS asks you to confirm first.
- Shrinking a video or keeping a Live Photo as a still adds a new copy to your library and then asks iOS to move the original to Recently Deleted.
Data stored on your device
To make rescans fast and remember your choices, Dupe Purge keeps a few files inside the app on your iPhone:
- Compact fingerprints and quality scores for your photos (not the photos themselves)
- Your review choices, flags and delete queue
- Your settings
These files stay on your device. They may be included in your iPhone’s own backups, like any app’s data. You can erase the fingerprints and review choices at any time with Clear cache and review history in the app’s settings, and everything is removed when you delete the app.
Background scanning
When your iPhone is charging, iOS may let Dupe Purge check new photos in the background. This works the same way as a scan in the app: everything stays on your device.
Purchases
Dupe Purge is free to download. The optional one-time unlock is sold and processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your name, Apple Account or payment details. The app only checks with the App Store whether the unlock has been purchased.
Third parties
Dupe Purge contains no third-party code, advertising networks or analytics tools, and shares no data with anyone.
Children
Dupe Purge does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date. Because we collect no data, any change will describe how the app works, not new uses of your information.
